Kathryn Calder Explores Her Philosophical Side on ‘Song in CM’

‘Take A Little Time’ to Watch Kathryn Calder’s New Video
As a member of the New Pornographers and former lead singer of Immaculate Machine, Kathryn Calder deserves to take a victory lap. She sang one of our favorite songs from last year, not to mention co-writing our No. 10 album of 2014, and her new, self-titled solo album promises lots of lovely synth-driven power-pop. The side-scrolling video for "Take A Little Time," the first single off of the new record, sees her trying to find inspiration and dodging pencil drawn baddies. It's got a definite "Take On Me" vibe, and that's a great thing. Kathryn Calder comes out on April 14 via File Under: Music, you can pre-order it here. Kathryn Calder tour dates: March 19 – Victoria, BC @ SugarMarch 20 – Vancouver, BC @ Rickshaw TheatreApril 16 – Victoria, BC @…

Independent record stores, however, saw their sales climb 11.2 percent. And many record stores celebrated their best-selling day in their existence. The upbeat sales figures come as vinyl's share of the album sales pie has grown from 0.2 percent in 2000 to roughly 3.2 percent this year. The 100 Most Anticipated Albums Of 2014
We're almost (almost!) done reflecting on the year that was, so it's time to start taking a closer look at the year that will be. For the past several years, we've ranked our most anticipated albums. Today the feature returns, bigger than ever, with a whopping 100 records we're looking forward to hearing, enjoying, debating, dissecting, and canonizing these next 12 months. We limited the list to albums we feel confident will come out in 2014, whether because we've heard confirmation (or close to it) from labels, managers, or the artists themselves, or because the timing seems extremely likely. For the educated guesses, we needed something resembling evidence to go on, which is why we didn't…
